In general, I have always liked this game, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Having said that, the rubber band A.I. is ridiculous in this game. Not leading is safe because the game tricks you into catching up by increasing the speed of its controlled drivers beyond what they can achieve. I don’t know whether the later Mario Kart game abandoned the rubber band A.I., but its existence is very strong in this respect.
